New proposed conservation area for the ‘Weirs’

Published Thursday 6 August 2009

If you live in ‘North and South Weirs’, near Brockenhurst, we want your views on turning this into a conservation area.

By creating a new conservation area, the Authority will be able to work with local residents to better protect the ‘Weirs’ historic character and appearance and achieve the highest possible design and buildings standards.

Paula Freeland, Head of Environmental Services, said: ‘This area sums up what is special about the New Forest and its architecture, and we want to work with people who live there to help protect it. Many of its buildings and landscapes typify the New Forest.’

The proposals and questionnaire can be viewed at

All completed questionnaires should be emailed to or posted to Paula Freeland, Environmental Services, New Forest National Park Authority, South Efford House, Milford Road, Lymington, SO41 0JD.

Deadline for comments on proposals is 18 September 2009.
