New members sought for New Forest National Park Authority

Published Monday 15 October 2012

The Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Owen Paterson, has announced his intention to appoint three new members to the New Forest National Park Authority.

The Secretary of State appoints members to reflect the national importance placed on national parks, with responsibility for conservation, recreation, planning, access, land management and resources as well as reflecting both local and national interests.

The vacancies have arisen as Peter Frost, Ted Johnson and Vicky Myers will have completed their eight year term of office at the end of March 2013.

Julian Johnson, Chairman of the New Forest National Park Authority, said: ‘I very much appreciate the time, involvement and commitment they gave to the New Forest during the period they served as members, particularly as the National Park was being established.’

The new appointments will commence in April 2013, or as soon after as practical, and are initially for up to four years with the option of re-appointment for a total period of up to eight years.

Application forms and further details are available online at www.defra.gov.uk/rural/national-parks.

The deadline for receipt of applications is Friday 16 November 2012.
