Business Advisor offers advice on grants at New Forest Show

Les Dix, Business Advisor for the Enterprise Agency will be on-hand at the New Forest Show to offer advice on Forest Friendly Farming Business Grants at the Food from Forest and Field Stand.

If you are a farmer, commoner or are involved in a rural business and think you are eligible for a Forest Friendly Farming Business Grant visit Les.

Since 2005, the LEADER + programme has provided funding for the Forest Friendly Farming Business Grant Scheme. A total of £100,000 has already been awarded to rural businesses in the New Forest area that are connected with local produce and sustainable land management.

The grants can be used to buy new equipment, fund a move into commercial premises or fund training to learn new skills.

All grant applications need to be in by the end of August 2007 when the scheme comes to an end. Applicants who have already received a grant now have another opportunity to apply for a grant for a new project providing the total sum of both grants does not exceed £5000.

Most recently funding has provided training in chainsaw management and towing a trailer.

Emma Rigglesworth, Head of Sustainable Development, said: ‘‘We’re really excited that Les will be available at the show to answer questions and offer advice.

‘The scheme has been an overwhelming success, benefiting a diverse cross-section of rural businesses. We are particularly keen now to receive applications from businesses involved in the production, processing and distribution of produce grown and reared in the New Forest.’
