New Forest National Park Welcomes you to the New Forest Show

The New Forest National Park Authority is delighted to be having a presence at this year's New Forest Show.

The New Forest National Park Authority can be visited at Block 17, stand number 112 in the New Forest Corner. This will be the first time the new National Park Authority has had a stand at the Show.

Says Lindsay Cornish, new Chief Executive of the New Forest National Park Authority; "This is a really important opportunity for us, and for many people it may be the first time they have been in contact with the new Authority. We are looking forward to welcoming people to our stand and having the opportunity to talk informally with them. I think visitors to the Show will find a warm welcome here and we hope to attract people from all walks of life, whether they live and work here or nearby or are visiting on holiday."

The New Forest National Park Authority Stand will be the first of its kind. There will be a special area for people to meet informally with members and staff. There will be information about the history of the National Park and how the New Forest fits into a "family" of National Parks throughout the country. There will be activities for all the family, including storytelling and mosaic-making, and a "wishing tree" where people can record their hopes for the future of the Forest. The New Forest Local Access Forum will also have a presence on the Stand. The New Forest Show also coincides with National Parks Week (22-29 July) and a number of events in the Forest have been organised to celebrate National Parks. Information about events will be available on the stand.

The New Forest National Park Authority officially came into being on 1 April and enters a "transitional" period until it is fully operational on 1 April 2006. The National Park Authority's two objectives are to conserve and enhance the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of the National Park and to promote opportunities for the understanding and enjoyment of the Park's special qualities by the public.
