The New Forest National Park Authority’s Management Plan which sets out the vision to guide the National Park for the next 20 years is now available.

As well as long-term objectives, the Management Plan will help to guide the work of the National Park Authority and partner organisations with priority actions to achieve over the next five years.

The Plan describes some of the challenges ahead and strongly emphasises that working together will be essential in keeping the National Park a special place for the future.

The Plan involved extensive consultation over three years including a series of workshops and meetings with over 90 organisations, a public meeting and 10,000 responses.

Clive Chatters, Chairman of the New Forest National Park Authority, said: ‘We hope the document will prove relevant and useful to everyone with an interest in the New Forest, including those involved in managing the area, people who live and work here and visitors who come to enjoy the National Park.

‘We are very grateful to all the organisations and local people who have been involved in developing and producing the Management Plan over the last few years.

‘To check our progress, we will develop indicators and targets and will work with other organisations to produce a more detailed action plan. They will be available on the website later this year and updated on a regular basis.’

In order to save costs and help the environment, the National Park Authority is encouraging people to view the Plan online at Copies can also be viewed at public libraries, the New Forest Centre in Lyndhurst and at the National Park Authority headquarters at Everton, near Lymington.
