Local businesses become a hub for information

Published Tuesday 29 July 2008

A new initiative to provide Local Information Points in the National Park has just been launched in three villages by the New Forest National Park Authority.

Local Information Points provide visitors and local people with easy access to National Park publications and information on how to enjoy the Forest while looking after it at the same time.

The first three Local Information Points have opened for business at the Forest Tea House, Burley, Bestsellers Bookshop, Brockenhurst, and Abbey Stores and Post Office, Beaulieu.

Jim Mitchell, Interpretation Officer, said: ‘We are pleased to be working with local businesses to help people get more from their visit to the National Park.

‘It is a great opportunity for the Authority and businesses to work together to promote the New Forest and what makes it special, and to boost businesses’ profiles.

‘If the pilot scheme is successful we will invite applications from more local businesses to expand the scheme next year.’
