Are you interested in making the New Forest more accessible?

Published Wednesday 9 May 2007

Four volunteers are needed to join the New Forest Access Forum, whose aim is to improve access to the countryside and coast in the New Forest and south-west Hampshire.

Applications to become a member are welcomed from those who have a particular interest in nature conservation, land management, camping and caravanning, or water-based recreation, such as canoeing.

The Forum gives advice to many organisations including, county and parish councils and the Forestry Commission. It will play an important role in advising the New Forest National Park Authority on recreation management and on future access to the coast.

Members represent a cross-section of interests including; land management, commoning, walking and local business, to ensure the needs of all groups are taken into account when the Forum prepares its advice.

The Forum’s members need to be able to demonstrate an inclusive approach and represent the interests of the groups they support.

If you are interested in becoming a member or would like further information, contact Debbie Williams on 01590 646665 or email The Forum meets four times a year and all travel expenses to and from the meetings will be paid.

Deadline for applications is Wednesday 23 May.
