New Forest National Park BioBlitz 2012

Interested in wildlife? We are looking for volunteers to help out at the third annual New Forest National Park BioBlitz, a 24 hour race to record as much wildlife in the New Forest as we can.

It is taking place from 4.00pm on Friday 25 May to 4.00pm on Saturday 26 May across the New Forest.

We are looking for people to help out with stewarding and guiding people at the events and with organisation.

We are also looking for people who have recording or identifying skills.

This would be a perfect opportunity for students of biology, ecology and natural history.

British Trust for Conservation Volunteers (BTCV) Work includes setting up and supporting community groups to manage local sites and projects; working with teachers and schools to improve grounds; providing training courses; promoting and providing practical volunteering opportunities and conservation projects.
Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) Hampshire Registered charity that uses volunteers to help lobby, fundraise, distribute leaflets and help at events.
Dorset Countryside Volunteers The group takes part in various weekend tasks all over Dorset and has a strong social element
Dorset Wildlife Trust The Trust has various conservation groups operating across Dorset.
Evolve An interactive website for voluntary and community groups serving Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
Forestry Commission Volunteer Rangers assist visitors in the New Forest by leading guided walks and staffing information units; leading and helping on practical conservation tasks, patrolling and byelaw enforcement.  Two trees Conservation Team work ranges from getting rid of scrub in ponds, helping toads and newts or clearing small trees from ridge edges for butterflies and insects.
Hampshire Conservation Volunteers Hampshire Conservation Volunteers is an active group of people making a practical contribution to nature conservation in Hampshire.  Most weekends they carry out practical tasks such as woodland management, hedge-laying and pond restoration.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust (registered charity) By providing volunteering, education and training opportunities the Trust enables individuals and communities to provide sustained benefit to wild places.  The Trust currently has over 1000 volunteers caring for over 60 reserves.
Hythe and Dibden Woodland and Waterside groups Conservation work including clearance, path laying, boardwalks; recording of flora and fauna; work with schools and in particular the Hythe and Dibden Community Woodland.
Milford Environment Group Volunteer members of the local community in Milford working with the Parish Council on conservation of woodland and other areas in Milford.
New Forest Area Conservation Volunteers The main aim of the group is to enhance the natural environment of the New Forest by means of practical conservation work.  Activities include tree and hedge planting, pond restoration, woodland improvement and lots more.
New Forest Centre
The New Forest Centre actively seeks volunteers to assist our busy front of house team.  You will be welcoming visitors, assisting with group visits and helping out with events and activities.  We also welcome applications from people wanting to help with cataloguing and documenting our growing reference library collection.  If you think either of these options would suit you or if you would just like to have a chat about volunteering opportunities generally please contact us.
New Forest Friends of the Earth A group of New Forest residents who are committed to saving the environment before it is too late!  Support and initiate environmental campaigns in the New Forest.
The National Trust National Trust volunteer groups, including local groups in South Hampshire and Bournemouth work on a voluntary basis on properties of the National Trust to help with conservation of the relevant properties and environment.  Work includes cutting down and planting of trees, scrub bashing, repairing fences, building footpaths and much more.
Marine Conservation Society Adopt-a-beach The Marine Conservation Society organise and provide information on the Adopt-a-beach Scheme which provides practical volunteering opportunities relating to the regions shoreline.
RSPB
The RSPB has many opportunities to volunteer locally.  In partnership with the New Forest National Park Authority, Forestry Commission and Carnyx Films they also run the Date with Nature experience in the Reptile Centre near Lyndhurst.
