Case study: the Tiptoe Green Trust

Village Green creation project

  • Villagers raised funds to acquire a field for use as a recreational / wildlife area for the community of Tiptoe, and the Tiptoe Green Trust was set up
  • Hordle Parish Council’s planning application to change the use of the field from grazing to informal community open space amenity land was approved by the National Park Authority
  • Partnership working between Hordle Parish Council and the Tiptoe Green Trust, with advice from New Forest Land Advice Service and New Forest National Park Authority officers and rangers
  • Funding from the Tiptoe community, New Forest National Park Authority, Hampshire County Council, Hordle Parish Council and Big Lottery Fund Awards for All
  • The Green opened officially in April 2011: it includes disabled access, gravel path, seating and a natural play area for children
  • Wildlife education opportunities for local school, playgroup, Brownies and special needs youth club.
