Dog poo bags

To enable and encourage New Forest dog walkers to pick up after their dogs, the National Park Authority has produced some New Forest dog waste bags. The design of the bags was developed and agreed with various local organisations, especially New Forest District Council and the New Forest Dog Owners Group.

Each bag carries this message: “Please remove dog mess from paths, areas where people may play or picnic and around car parks. Bagged dog waste may be put in ordinary litter bins if necessary.”

The bags come in rolls of 50 with a wrap-around label carrying the message: “Full or empty it is an offence to drop these bio-degradable bags. They can be placed in any bin.”

Rangers and local volunteers regularly offer these to dog walkers who may have forgotten to bring one with them, and the bags should spark useful debates in structured education sessions and at events!

We hope that the bags will be stocked by a range of shops and other outlets across the Forest. At the current time they can be purchased from the following New Forest District Council Offices, price £1.25/roll. Please check for details of addresses and opening times.
