Educational campaigns
The New Forest National Park has many special features, such as its plentiful wildlife, free-roaming animals and unpolluted habitats.
Sometimes these special things are threatened because a minority of people are unaware of their potential impact. So, for example someone might not know that feeding a pony an apple might cause it to develop a liking for human food and, some months later, it could be pestering picnickers for their food – even kicking out if it doesn’t get what it wants!
The New Forest National Park Authority therefore assists a range of other organisations with educational campaigns which help to raise awareness of these issues. Some are directed at local people; others at visitors. The goal is for everyone to know how to enjoy the Forest without detracting from the special qualities which make the experience so enjoyable.
