Education and outreach
A key focus of the Coastal Heritage Project was education and outreach; working to successfully engage local audiences and visitors with ‘their’ heritage. Education and outreach is an important element to any archaeological work as through increasing understanding it is possible to foster long term interest and protection of vulnerable archaeology along the coast.
Success have included providing a wide range of education resources and loan boxes to local schools, various exhibitions, talks and events as well as interpretation panels at various sites along the coast. So keep a look out for them. We have also produced ‘Shipwrecks of the Western Solent' a short film exploring a variety of wrecks that can be found off the New Forest coast. This film is freely available to local schools, education providers and heritage groups and centres. To arrange a viewing or get hold of your copy please contact us.
Education resources
The Coastal Heritage has produced a range of exciting, informative and interesting downloadable education resources for use in schools. These resources are further supported by a range of freely available loan boxes containing real and replica objects that you can book for your school.
