Don't feed the animals
The golden rule about feeding Forest animals is: don’t. They gain all the nourishment they need from grazing on the open Forest, and any additional feeding is solely the commoners’ responsibility.
Putting out grass mowings, hedge cuttings etc for livestock to eat can kill them because it causes an agonising gastric illness called colic.
Be careful, too, about leaving household / recyclable waste where animals can reach it, especially on days when it is put out to be collected by the local authority. Livestock foraging for a tasty snack can hurt themselves on items such as tin cans and glass.
