New Forest National Park Authority
Summary
Visit type: day visits
Capacity: up to 50 students
Age range: KS2 to university level
Specialise in providing education about the New Forest National Park and the role of the New Forest National Park Authority.
The New Forest is the smallest of Britain’s national parks but is one of the most varied in terms of what it has to offer. Discover first hand what makes this landscape so special and what historic and cultural factors have created the environment of the new forest today.
The New Forest National Park Authority does not have an education centre within the National Park but does provide a specialist education service including an Education Officer who leads groups within the National Park. The Authority focuses on the whole park perspective and topics covered range from the history of the National Park, the present day conflicts within the National Park and how these are managed to conserve and enhance the National Park for future generations to enjoy. Other specialist sessions include archaeology of the park, landscape interpretation and ecology of the National Park.
All sessions are developed in conjunction with the party leader and generally last between 1½ hours to half a day.
