Minstead is an Hampshire County Council study centre which nestles in the heart of the New Forest just a short walk from the ancient wild wood. Primary aged groups stay for a fun filled five days, however, a shorter stay can be arranged. All food is prepared on site using a fair proportion of our own home grown organic produce. We try to involve the children in thinking about the food they eat.
Much of the week is led by the qualified Minstead staff who integrate all the activities around a central theme, caring for the Earth, and encourage the children to work together cooperatively and take responsibility for their actions. The wonderful centre grounds and the surrounding forest offer an ideal context for a truly memorable learning experience. A delicious mixture of adventure, discovery and transformation.
The new eco-dormitory has been designed with “eyes and ears” to give the children a living, learning experience of how they influence the use of resources. Water, gas and electricity use are monitored through the week via an energy display board and the children are challenged to see how their small actions can make a difference to resource consumption.
