With stunning views across the Solent, a dynamic coastline and a variety of habitats to study, Lepe Country Park will inspire and enthuse teachers and students of all ages.
Lepe is the ideal place to bring learning to life. This coastal park of shingle shore, cliffs, wildflower meadows, woodland, river and recreation areas is fringed by the North Solent Nature Reserve. In addition there is plenty of historical interest with remains of a major D-day launching point on site. The wide range of habitats are ideal for exploring and observing nature at first hand, for example learning about identification and adaptation of organisms and how they inter-relate in food chains and webs.
Geographical detective and mapping skills can be honed as students investigate the coastal features and how people interact with them. Sensory and artistic activities involve colours, sounds and touches, incorporating weaving, sculpture, music and poetry. For tutored sessions school staff are encouraged to attend a pre-visit meeting to discuss learning objectives to tailor sessions to your student’s needs. We are also happy to advise on risk assessment and risk management aspects of your visit or to hire out field equipment to facilitate your self tutored activities.
