The planning application process

The Planning Process – this follows on from the validation process, once the application has been passed to the planning officer.

Applications should be dealt with in eight weeks. This eight week date starts on the date that all the information submitted is correct.

There are some variations to this: Applications involving legal agreements may take longer than eight weeks and major applications run for a period of 13 week. If an application is not decided under delegated powers (Officers make the decision) and is taken to our Planning Committee, these applications may also extend the normal period as Planning Committee is held monthly.

If amended plans or descriptions are received during the consultation period, those notified or who have made representations will be informed.

Why does it take so long – We are required to hold a public consultation period. This allows consultees, Parish/Town councils and members of the public time to look at applications and submit their comments.
