The New Forest National Park has a thriving tourism industry, with 13.5 million visitor days each year. Many businesses are either directly or indirectly involved in the tourism industry, and contribute to the economic well-being of the New Forest National Park.

We work with the New Forest Destination Partnership (GoNewForest, New Forest District Council and New Forest Tourism Association) to support a sustainable tourism industry within the National Park. We lead on a series of initiatives to reduce the impact of visitor traffic on the National Park, while supporting a vibrant rural economy.

We also run a number of Experience Days through the year to familiarise businesses with our work and with areas of special interest that they may not be familiar with. Previous days have included:

  • Guided walks with archaeologists exploring the New Forest’s World War II heritage
  • An introduction to the wildlife in the National Park
  • A tour of a commoners holding
  • Helping with some practical conservation
  • Riding the New Forest Tour.

We also help to provide visitor information through our Local Information Points and Travel Concierge service. Please contact Transport and Tourism Manager Mark Holroyd for further information.
