Local New Forest jams

The National Park Authority supports the local produce economy in and around the New Forest. One of the ways it does this is through its support for the New Forest Marque®.

Business advice, bespoke training, marketing assistance, improved sales and consumer confidence - these are among the benefits you stand to get when you join the New Forest Marque®.

The New Forest Marque® is a scheme with a recognised logo that clearly identifies items that have been produced in the New Forest.

Whether you're a producer, processor or seller, you can apply to be licensed to use the New Forest Marque® if your business is based within the scheme criteria or processes produce from New Forest Marque members.

Abattoir feasibility study

A recent project the New Forest Marque and the National Park Authority have worked on is a study into the feasibility of a local abattoir. The report concluded that there isn't a strong enough business case for an abattoir in the New Forest at the current time. The report is a good snapshot of the meat producing sector; it included a survey of over 200 farmers. It also makes recommendations on possible alternatives to an abattoir. The study was funded by New Forest Leader (RDPE) and the New Forest National Park Authority.
