Mosaic BME

Beaulieu visit

On 4 September 2010 a group of five adults and two children from Walthamstow, Chingford and Tower Hamlets came by train to enjoy the New Forest Tour. They were led by Mosaic Community Champions Ann Ryan and Beverley Graham, who are based in east London.

Ann said: ‘We arrived at Brockenhurst station on a lovely, warm day and caught the Tour bus – viewing the New Forest from the top deck was a marvellous experience. The Tour driver was particularly courteous and went out of her way to offer advice.’

The Mosaic party eventually stopped off at Beaulieu to visit the National Motor Museum and Palace. They had lunch at the restaurant, viewed the Abbey and gardens and then went for a walk in Beaulieu village. On returning to Brockenhurst they had time to enjoy refreshments in the village before catching the train back to Waterloo.

‘This was the first time that many of the group had visited the New Forest and the trip went really well,’ said Ann. ‘Everyone we met on the day was very pleasant. We would recommend this visit it to all Mosaic members, particularly as it is an excellent example of groups from London using public transport.’

Marcus (aged 11) said that he really enjoyed the trip, and he liked the idea of getting away from London for several hours, and he wished we could have stayed overnight. He particularly enjoyed the motor museum, and the James Bond experience at Beaulieau.

Maree (aged 9) said that she enjoyed being in the New Forest, and felt that it was really cool that ponies are allowed to wonder freely throughout the forest. She also enjoyed visiting Beaulieau House, and the monastry.
