Heritage mapping

LiDAR volunteers at Iblsey

As well as identifying archaeological sites and features through the remotely sensed data the project also undertakes ground verification work to ensure all identified features are archaeological.

This aspect relies heavily on the fantastic work carried out by out volunteer surveyors. These individuals head out into the forest, come rain or shine, and undertake detailed recording of the sites and monuments identified in the office.

If you would like to get involved in this aspect or the project, or would like more information, please email us at archaeology@newforestnpa.gov.uk.
