The New Forest has a unique historic, cultural and archaeological heritage from royal hunting ground to ship building, salt making and 500 years of military coastal defence.
The jewels in the National Park’s crown are the 214 scheduled monuments and 621 listed buildings. However the area’s cultural and archaeological heritage is reflected throughout communities and many more sites across the National Park thanks to the way the land has evolved and been managed.
