New forest tour bus on green route

New Forest Tour

The New Forest is well served by public transport including trains and buses.

The New Forest Tour is an open top bus experience linking many of the major towns, villages and attractions in the New Forest.

Operating in the summer months from 28 June to September 14, 2014, the New Forest Tour follows three routes known as red, green and blue.

  • Green Route: serving Lymington, Beaulieu, Exbury Gardens, Lyndhurst and Brockenhurst
  • Red Route: serving Burley, Ringwood, Fordingbridge, Sandy Balls, Ashurst and Lyndhurst
  • Blue Route: serving Brockenhurst, Lymington, Milford-on-sea, New Milton, Bashley, Thorney Hill and Burley.

Unique view

Views from the top deck give a unique view of the villages and wide expanses of heathland and forest.

Each route has a special commentary about the landscape, history and culture of that area and it's a great way to find out more about the New Forest National Park.

Convenient & eco friendly

You can hop-on and hop-off wherever you like and catch another bus later on, or switch between tours all on the same ticket.

It is also a great excuse to leave your car at home and in 2011 saved an estimated 147,000 private car miles, which is better for visitors and better for the New Forest environment. New Forest Tour passengers also contributed an estimated £500,000 to the local economy.

The New Forest Tour also joins up with other car-free initiatives and links to rail stations at Brockenhurst, Lymington Pier and Ashurst.

New Forest Tour customers can enjoy free bus travel to and from Salisbury, Southampton, Bournemouth and Hythe. Simply buy your New Forest Tour ticket on scheduled bus services leaving these locations.

For cyclists, the Tour has room on-board for up to four bikes in total, at no extra cost, and it links to the Forestry Commission’s cycling and walking gravel track network.

Savings

Customers also receive money off entry to attractions along the routes such as Exbury Gardens and Beaulieu Motor Museum, plus a Brand New Forest discount card with money off shops and cafes across the forest.
