Date with nature webcam

Love nature? Let us introduce you...

A Date With Nature in the New Forest is now open, every day until 3 September 2017.

Using the latest hi-tech gadgets you can look right into the tree-top nests of the New Forest Goshawk and watch their every move - from eggs hatching to food arriving and chicks leaving - on the stream below:

Any problems with the live stream? Visit the help pages (external site).

Want to find out more? Visit the New Forest Reptile Centre near Lyndhurst, where staff and volunteers are on hand to explain more about the bird’s behaviour and answer any questions as they have the live webcam on show to visitors. You can also see unique wildlife viewed in ‘pods’ at the Centre, such as the reptiles and amphibians naitive to the New Forest.

Other features of the project will include live footage from the ‘feeder cam’ which will capture the goings on around the bird feeders near the Centre.  A camera has also been set up in one of the nest boxes intended for our smaller woodland birds, and the project staff are eagerly waiting to see which species will nest in there.

Drop in for Wild Wednesdays during school holidays from 10.30am - 3.30pm, with reptile and bird quizzes, trails and activities, or just turn up any day of the week to view the exciting nestcams and follow seasonal trails through the surrounding woodland.

2017 Wild Wednesday dates are:

Summer Half Term: 31 May

Summer Holidays: 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 August.

A Date with Nature in the New Forest runs daily from 1 April to 3 September, 10.30am to 4pm. Entry to the Reptile Centre is free although donations for parking are welcome. The project is a partnership between the RSPB, Forestry Commission, National Park Authority and Carnyx Wild.
