New Forest Centre
The New Forest Centre in Lyndhurst, right at the heart of the National Park, is the ideal place to start a visit in the New Forest.
The Centre features attractive gallery displays on many aspects of New Forest life as well as changing exhibitions, a gift shop, visitor information centre and the New Forest reference library.
Formerly known as the New Forest Museum, the building became the New Forest Centre in 2007 under a partnership deal between its owners, the Ninth Centenary Trust, and the National Park Authority.
As part of the new arrangements there is now free entry for under-16s, a new Centre Manager, a new-look exterior and updated displays inside.
The National Park Authority is contributing £200,000 over three years to the running of the New Forest Centre including support-in-kind from its officers.
