Explore the New Forest from an open top bus

The New Forest Tour is once again back by popular demand. The open top tour bus now has an improved commentary system making it even easier for people to learn about the New Forest and has kept the same prices as last year.

The tour will start its summer journey on Saturday 20 June, if you want to be the first on the bus be ready at Lyndhurst Village car park and Beaulieu Village bus stop at 10:15am.

The tour will run everyday from 10:15am with services departing hourly until 4:15pm through to the 13 September. The circular route has something for everyone; whether you want to explore the shops in Lymington, Brockenhurst, Lyndhurst and Beaulieu or the visitor attractions of Exbury Gardens and Steam Railway and the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu.

The New Forest Tour is the perfect opportunity for visitors and local people to see England’s smallest national park from a different perspective; taking in the magnificent views of heathland, forest, countryside and coastline.

It is also a great excuse to leave your car at home; reducing traffic and carbon emissions in the Forest. The New Forest Tour also joins up with other car-free initiatives and links to local rail networks and bus routes. This year for the first time tour tickets can be purchased on the Bournemouth X12 bus and the number 56 Southampton bus.

For bike-lovers, the tour bus has room onboard for approximately four bikes, at no extra cost. The tour route has been designed to link to the Forestry Commission’s cycling and walking gravel track network.

Chris Gregory, Transport and Tourism Officer, said: ‘We’ve been predicted a great summer and with more people than ever before choosing to holiday at home the New Forest Tour is a perfect way to spend a day exploring the Forest.

‘When you buy your ticket you receive an exclusive guide book full of guided walks, cycle trails and points of interest. It is also full of special offers including 50 per cent off if you decide you want to go on the tour again!’

Tickets for the New Forest Tour can be purchased on the bus, from Visitor Information Centres at Lyndhurst and Lymington, Local Information Points in Brockenhurst and Beaulieu and online at www.thenewforesttour.info

Tickets are the same price as last year; £9 per adult and £4.50 for children aged between five and 15. Group tickets for five people travelling together cost £22.50.

New Forest District residents eligible for concessionary travel can use the bus for free.
