New Forest National Park - A Special Place

This page features an introductory film about the New Forest National Park, called A Special Place, in easy-to-view chapters.

The film tells the story of the National Park today and looks at some of the challenges it faces for the future.  It features stunning photography of the Park’s diverse landscape and touches on a number of issues including animal safety, litter, climate change and the important balance between conservation and recreation.  A number of New Forest people describe what makes the New Forest special to them.

The film stars 12-year-old Phoebe McCulloch from Lyndhurst as Heather.  She won the role after a casting session with other young actors and actresses from the New Forest. The film was commissioned specially by the New Forest National Park Authority and made in 2007 by Riff Raff Media, a New Forest-based film company that makes Country Ways and Coastal Ways for ITV.

The National Park Authority would like to thank all the individuals and organisations who helped in the making of the film.  Enjoy the show.
