Meetings of Working Groups, Parish & Town Councils, and Ward Councillors

The National Park Authority set up a series of topic working groups and meetings with parish and town councils and ward councillors focusing on the issues that generated the most interest and concern during the consultation on the draft National Park Plan. The purpose of these meetings was to discuss in detail the key points raised and to suggest alternative approaches or ways in which the relevant policies could be amended or improved.

The working groups met during March and April 2009. Participants were invited to ensure that the range of views expressed on the issues raised during the consultation process was represented. The parish and town council quadrant and ward councillor meetings took place during April and May 2009. Draft notes of each meeting were agreed by participants and additional comments, if received, are included in the notes.

Each of these working groups met during March and April 2009 with the invited participants representing the range of views expressed on the issues during the consultation process. Draft notes of each working group meeting were agreed by participants and some additional comments were received which have been included in the notes.

The National Park Authority has also hosted a meeting to which all members of County, District and Borough Councils within and immediately adjacent to the National Park were invited. The notes of this meeting will be available shortly.

The content of the notes represents the views of the various members of the groups, rather than the views of the National Park Authority. The output of the working groups will be considered by members of the Authority alongside the other forms of engagement carried out. This includes the meetings the Authority is taking part in with town and parish councils in the National Park, and consideration of all of the consultation responses received last year. Everyone’s comments carry the same weight and will be given due consideration before the National Park Plan is revised. There will also be a further opportunity for comments to be made on the Core Strategy elements of the revised Plan before it is submitted to the Government for formal examination.

Meetings are currently taking place with town and parish councils in the four quadrants of the National Park, at which the issues considered by the working groups are also being discussed. The notes of these meetings will be placed on the website when finalised.
