Adinkra is a printed or stamped traditional cloth made by the Ashanti people in Ghana. Adinkra (ah-DEENK-rah) symbols have been used in Ghana on clothes, walls, pottery and as logos since the early 1800’s. The symbols each have a special meaning, some over 100 years old.  Let African Activities share with you these symbols, talk about their meaning and you can then make your own cloth using our stamps or by making your own.  Junk Modelling Bring along an old milk bottle and turn it into an elephant, a bird, a mask or something even more extraordinary

  • Dance Workshop with African Activities: 2 - 4pm on the main lawn. See the skills of dancers from Minstead Trust and have the chance to join in this interactive African Dance workshop yourself. Large, powerful balletic movements combine for a fun dance which is also a bit of a workout!

  • Drumming Performance from Students at Minstead Trust: Tuesday 20 June, 2.30 - 3.30pm on the main lawn

  • Morris Dancing: Friday 23 June, 2.30 until 3.30pm.
