Biodiversity Action Plan

We work with other organisations to protect and enhance the variety of natural life, often referred to as biodiversity, in the National Park and its surroundings.

In 2013 we approved a Biodiversity Action Plan to:

  • help achieve the Government’s ambition of halting the overall loss of England’s biodiversity by 2020
  • support healthy well functioning ecosystems
  • establish coherent ecological networks, with more and better places for nature for the benefit of wildlife and people.

Since the approval of the Strategy, the we have sought to develop and implement a range of strategic responses and projects with our partners. These have reflected new and emerging themes such as ecosystem services and natural capital, and priority has been given to implementing action.

Much has already been achieved to progress actions against the objectives of  the plan and in 2018 we aim to review progress and future actions in partnership with local stakeholders.
