Temporary road signs to highlight animal accidents

The New Forest National Park Authority with agreement from the Verderers has provided portable signs to combat accidents involving commoners’ animals on New Forest roads.

Agisters leave a temporary sign up at the site of an animal accident to raise awareness of where the incident happened.Their temporary nature attracts more attention than permanent signs, so the effort involved in putting them out and then taking them back in is felt worthwhile.

The yellow and black, triangular signs state that an animal casualty has happened at that spot in the last week; prompting other drivers to be vigilant on the roads and to slow down near to forest animals and give them a wide berth.

Remember that the animals do not understand that cars are dangerous. EXPECT THEM TO WALK IN FRONT OF YOU and be ready to stop in time!
