Alastair Duncan

Alastair Duncan has lived in Ringwood for 12 years. He is a retired civil engineer and is a Volunteer Ranger working under the direction of the Forestry Commission. This involves supervising conservation work in conjunction with the Commission Keepers, leading guided walks for the public, patrolling in the New Forest, and staffing information units. It also involves leading events aimed at introducing children to the wonders of the natural environment.

Alastair is Chairman of the Friends of Ringwood Medical Centre, Vice Chairman of the 3rd Ringwood Scout Group, and served for 7 years as a Governor and Chairman of Governors of a large (350 pupil) local infant school.  

His interests are sailing, walking, cycling, choral singing and the study of local history.

During his career he was involved in the design and provision of facilities for the disabled.
