Brian Dash

Brian was born in Gosport. After leaving school at 16 he became a student apprentice with the Electricity Board.

After moving to Hythe in 1965, Brian then went on to work as an engineer for both Fawley and Marchwood power stations.

Brian's council career began in 1983, when he was elected to New Forest District Council and Hythe and Dibden Parish Council. During his time as county councillor Brian was vice chair of Education and chair of Buildings and Grounds (1993-97).

Once asked what made him come into politics Brian replied: “I decided I would like to change the world starting with a pedestrian crossing in Dibden Purlieu.”
